Do I know someone?

Looking for a plumber, a lawyer or a photographer?Someone you might know and trust is one message away.

Looking for something, say an English tutor? Type it in. We check your friends first, then your friends' friends, and show you who can help and how you're connected.

Can you help someone else? Add what you're good at to your profile: it can be your job or anything you know well. When a friend, or a friend of a friend, searches for it, you show up in their results. And when someone in your circle asks for help in the Feed, you can answer.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add the people you know

Look friends up by name, import your Google contacts, or send your invite link to people who haven't joined yet. Someone is in your circle once they accept.

  2. 2

    Search for what you need

Type a trade, a skill, a company or a place. Your friends come first in the results, then their friends.

  3. 3

    Write to someone you trust

Every result shows how you're connected. Message a friend, or a friend of a friend, straight away.

What a search looks like

Each result says what the person does, where they are and how you're connected: a friend, or a friend of a friend.

Questions

What is Do I know someone?

A search for your own network. Instead of asking in a group and waiting for replies, you search, and you see which of your friends, and which of their friends, do exactly that.

How is it different from Google or quote websites?

Google and quote sites show you strangers and reviews you can't check. Here every result is a friend or a friend of a friend, so you can see how you're connected before you write to them.

How do people find me?

Put what you do on your profile. When a friend, or a friend of a friend, searches for it, you show up in their results, and we never tell you who searched. If someone in your circle asks the Feed for something you can help with, you may get a notice, and it is up to you whether to answer.

Who can see my profile?

Your connections see all of it. A friend of a friend who finds you in a search sees your whole profile and can write to you straight away; you can block anyone. Someone from outside your circle who looks you up by name sees your name, photo, job title, company, city and country, so they can send you a request. What you ask in the Feed stays anonymous to friends of friends until they join in.

Do you keep my Google contacts?

No. We read the email addresses once, only to see which of them already belong to a member, and we send those members a connection request. The list is not saved, and we don't email anyone who isn't a member.
